Devotional: Give to the poor

man, homeless, poverty

7 January 2023 Bible reading

Proverbs 28:27
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

Beloved, without mincing words, today’s Bible reference has made me to know that in everyday living, opportunities do come our way for us to be blessed. The Word of God clearly reveals that giving to the poor will not make us lose, but rather it is an opportunity for us to be blessed. The scripture further reveals that If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you.

The words above do not make rational sense because when we give, we take out of what we have and are left with less, but if we take a selah moment and consider that our finances are stored in the riches of his glory and not our bank accounts, wallets and purses, the verse will begin to make sense.

The riches of God’s glory do not diminish regardless of the number of people who draw from it and how many times they draw. It is not financed by the toils of men but by the faithfulness of God. Is it beginning to make sense? So, when next you give, as a Christian, remember you are drawing from a well that never runs dry.

Take a look at the photo below. The more the fountain gives, the more beautiful it looks and the more it regains.

Prov 19:17 - Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.
Prov 11:24-25 There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want. The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered.
2 Corinthians 9:6 - Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

If you want to prosper and be protected and be blessed upon the earth, you must stop thinking mathematically because God operates supernaturally. For the scripture says, Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
Psalm 41:1-2

Isah 55:8-9 - “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Beloved, in this new year, you must resolve to live by the written revelation of the Word so that your joy can overflow like a river, with all your expectations being fulfilled in the mighty name of Jesus.
