How to live in dominion

Dominion means to rule, control or have sovereign authority over something. According to the bible, dominion is a God-given gift to mankind.
Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that ove along the ground." So God created ankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over everyliving creature that moves on the ground - GENESIS 1: 26-28
According to the scripture above, God has called us to have dominion. It is the will of God for us to dominate in whatsoever we do and wherever we find ourselves.
As children of God, we must exhibit this trait always. People must be able to see God’s glory in us as we live a life of dominion.
WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE DOMINION AS A CHRISTIAN
1. To have dominion is to prosper in everything you lay your hands on and wherever you find yourself. Taking the story of Joseph as an example, Joseph prospered despite the fact that he was in prison
2. To have dominion means to live a redeemed life from sickness and diseases
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you -LUKE 10;19
3. To have dominion means to excel. When others say there is casting down, you will be saying there is a lifting. Lifting in your marriage, finances, jobs, businesses and in whatsoever thing you do.
The Lord will make you the head, not he tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom - DEUTERONOMY 28:13
How can we live a life of dominion?
You made them rulers over the works of your hands you put everything under their feet - PSALMS 8;6
We can live a life of dominion by being ready to serve; which is critically what God created us for. We must be ready to serve God and man.
Our work here on earth is not really about us, we were created for the purpose of service. You need not be a pastor to serve. You can serve through your work and even in your attitude towards others.
If you must have dominion, you must refuse to settle for less than God’s best and understand that it is God alone who gives riches. You also need to do things according to God’s word.
In conclusion, to live a life of dominion, we must mirror Christ in all that we do.
Prayer points on walking in dominion
- Lord help us to know and accept that we have an inheritance in you, from the beginning of creation, we have been anointed for dominion in Jesus’ name
- Spirit of the living God, without any fear, help us to take our stand in you as Luke 10:19 says You have given us authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy, nothing will harm us.
