God’s Call to Forget the Old
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (ESV)
Holding onto the past—whether failures, sins, hurts, or even successes—can prevent us from stepping into the fresh season God has prepared for us. True spiritual renewal requires faith, surrender, and a willingness to let go of the old.

How to Let Go of the Old and Step Into God’s Newness
1. Acknowledge God as Your Creator
God, the Creator of all things, has unlimited power to bring change. Nothing is impossible with Him (Luke 1:37). Trust in His ability to create something new in your life.
2. Trust God’s Strategy Over Yours
God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Do not limit Him by expecting Him to act according to your plans. Avoid making an idol out of the very blessing you are waiting for.
3. Overcome Fear with Faith
Fear is a tool of the enemy to keep you stuck. Build your faith through consistent study of God’s Word (Romans 10:17). If He has done it for others, He will do it for you.
4. Give God All the Glory
Many forget God once they receive their breakthrough. Always remember, every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). Give Him the glory He deserves.
5. Discard Your Backup Plan
If you truly trust God, you won’t hold onto a “Plan B.” Double-mindedness can delay your breakthrough (James 1:6-8). Make God your only source.
6. Forget the Past
Let go of past hurts, failures, and disappointments. Carrying emotional baggage can hinder your future (Philippians 3:13-14). Release the old to make room for the new.
7. Commit to Consistent Prayer
Persistent prayer demonstrates faith in God’s promises (Luke 18:1-8). Keep seeking Him until your new beginning manifests, and continue in thanksgiving when it does.
8. Live a Holy Life
You cannot expect divine breakthroughs while walking in disobedience. Live righteously and align yourself with God’s will (1 Peter 1:15-16).
9. Wage War Against Spiritual Strongholds
Some delays are caused by generational strongholds. Engage in spiritual warfare with the authority Christ has given you (Ephesians 6:12-13, 2 Corinthians 10:4).
10. Position Yourself for New Blessings
Align your heart, mind, and actions with God’s plans. Repent from all unrighteousness and Position yourself spiritually through faith, obedience, and readiness to embrace change (Psalm 37:5).
