Devotional: Meditate and Reign - January, 2025

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 4:12-16

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Memory Verse:

“Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.” – 1 Timothy 4:15

DEVOTIONAL

As Deliberate Christians, we must come to a place where we fully embrace who we are in Christ. The deeper we draw into intimacy with our Heavenly Father, the clearer we see the truth: We are God’s treasured possessions. He calls us His beloved, redeemed by the blood of Jesus to reign as kings and priests on the earth (Revelation 5:10; 1 Peter 2:9).

2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you were reborn into a new life—a life destined for victory, purpose, and transformation. But here’s the reality: This newness of life doesn’t manifest automatically. It requires an intentional pursuit of God’s Word and a willingness to walk in its light (John 14:15; 1 John 5:3).

Many believers struggle with direction, identity, and fulfillment because they neglect the very foundation of Christian living—God’s Word. 2 Peter 1:3 tells us:

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”

Everything you need to live victoriously as a deliberate Christian is already provided in His Word. The challenge is this: Are you feeding on the Word daily? Are you meditating on it to the point that it transforms your thinking and decisions?

Paul’s admonition in 1 Timothy 4:15-16 is crystal clear: “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all… for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”

To reign as a king and priest, you must intentionally prioritize study and meditation of God’s Word. This is not optional—it’s the key to unlocking the life God has destined for you. Jesus Himself is the Word (John 1:1-3), and the more you spend time with Him in the Scriptures, the more you discover who you truly are and what inheritance you have in Him.

GET DELIBERATE

Make time for God’s Word daily: Decide today that no day will pass without you spending quality time studying and meditating on the Word. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Renew your mind intentionally: Allow God’s Word to reshape your thoughts, attitudes, and actions (Romans 12:2).

Declare who you are in Christ: Speak out what the Word says about you—you are redeemed, loved, and victorious.

Are you struggling with direction or purpose? You don’t need a “seer” to tell you who you are in Christ. Open your Bible and allow God’s Word to lead and empower you. As you meditate on Scripture, your transformation will become evident to all!

Cross References:

Revelation 5:10 – “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
